On March 10, 2017, READ held a fabulous night of casino and cocktail to raise money to support the implementation of an amazing new technology platform called the zSpace Learning Lab. The zSpace Learning Lab is a 3-D virtual reality technology platform that provides an immersive and interactive educational experience. Through the use of a computer screen, zSpace 3D glasses and a stylist, students are able to virtually engage in tasks such as exploring the human anatomy, dissecting animals, touring different planets and exploring mechanical structures. READ's held its third annual Family Movie Night on Friday, May 16, 2014, with a showing of Back to the Future! Thanks to everyone who attended the event and our sponsors. READ raised over $20,000 towards current fundraising projects.

Spring 2014, East Hills and Harbor Hill Schools
In Spring 2014, READ brought multi-award winning author, Douglas Florian to the Roslyn's Elementary Schools. Florian is a master poet and brilliant artist, whose poetry collections are filled with wonderful humor that is perfect for elementary school students. Mr. Florian shared his love of poetry with the students by reading selections from many of the 55 books that he has authored! Students prepared for his visit by reading his poems and each class decorated a banner to honor one of Douglas Florian's books.
2nd Annual Family Movie Night

READ's held its second annual Family Movie Night on Friday, May 16, 2014. Despite the dismal forecast which forced the event to move inside the Roslyn Middle School, attendees has a fantastic time. Several local food vendors were in attendance to serve up some delicious eats and the kids had a blast watching Despicable Me 2. Thanks to all of our amazing sponsors, the READ Family Movie Night was a huge success! READ’s second annual Movie Night raised over $20,000 for the Roslyn Public Schools.
Conversation with the Author
Kimberly McCreight, Author of Recontructing Amelia
On November 14, 2013, READ and the Sid Jacobson JCC co-hosted an author event and book signing with Kimberly McCreight, the author of the New York Times bestseller Reconstructing Amelia. McCreight's debut novel is the story of how a single mother reconstructs her teenaged daughter's life, sifting through her emails, texts, and social media to piece together the shocking truth about the last days of her life. McCreight touched on various hot-button issues affecting our children today and dealt with in her book such as cyberbullying, catfishing (adopting a fake cyber-identity), emerging sexual identity, and working-mom guilt.
READ 1st Annual Golf & Tennis Invitational
Thursday, July 11, 2013 at The Tam O'Shanter Club, Brookville
On July 11th, 2013 READ held it's 1st Annual Golf and Tennis Invitational, followed by a dinner and auction, where we honored Roslyn's one and only, Joseph Dragone, Assistant Superintendent of Business for the Roslyn Public Schools. With the support of Roslyn parents, administrators and teachers, READ raised over $35,000 for the Roslyn Schools.
1st Annual Outdoor Family Movie Night
Friday, September 14, 2012, East Hills School
READ's inaugural fundraising event was held on Friday, September 14, 2012 at the East Hills school. It was an outdoor movie night featuring The Muppets Take Manhattan. Several local food vendors were in attendance including The Meat House, Atillios and Delicacies to serve up some delicious eats. Thanks to all of you and our amazing sponsors, the READ Outdoor Family Movie Night was a huge success! With over 400 members of the community in attendance that evening, READ’s kick-off fundraising event raised close to $19,000 for the Roslyn Public Schools.
