Explaining the 2% Tax Cap

 

In June 2011, New York State enacted a law that places new restrictions on how school districts (and municipalities) may increase their tax levies.  Although often referred to as a “2 percent tax cap,” the law is more complex than it seems.  This short video will attempt to simplify the process of figuring out a school district's tax levy limit and how the "2% Tax Cap" can impact your school budget and your taxes.
